Italy-Florence

 

Italy is one of my favorite European countries. The museum, church and sightseeing are fabulous. It really impresses me when I saw Basillca di Santa Maria del Fiore for the first time. There are some tourist attractions I really recommend in Florence. 

 

Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore

in English Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower is the main church of Florence. The exterior of the basilica is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink bordered by white. The basilica is one of Italy’s largest churches, and until development of new structural materials in the modern era, the dome was the largest in the world. It remains the largest brick dome ever constructed. The cathedral includes the Baptistery and Giotto’s Campanile

 

Piazza della Signoria

Piazza della Signoria is an L-shaped square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. There are many arches and statue on the square, including the copy of Michelangelo’s David statue.

 Galleria degi Uffizi

One of the most important Italian museums, it is also one of the largest and best known in the world, and holds a collection of priceless works, particularly from the period of the Italian Renaissance. If you are a fan of Renaissance collection, there is a heaven for you. This museums holds collections such as Birth of Venus, La Primavera, Madonna and Child with Angel, Baptism of Christ, Spring and etc.

 

Piazzale Michelangelo

The square, dedicated to the Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo, has bronze copies of some of his marble works. The view from here captures the heart of Florence from Forte Belvedere to Santa Croce, across the lungarni and the bridges crossing the Arno.

Galleria dell’ Accademia

It is the home of Michelangelo‘s sculpture David. It also has other sculptures by Michelangelo and a collection of Renaissance paintings. My main purpose to come this museum is to see the authentic David.

 

Italian ice cream and steak are what I recommend in Florence. The ice cream is the best I have eaten before.
