Going to Japan to see sakura (3)

This is a map of central Japan. Most people choose to live in the shinjuku-ku, which was circled in purple line in this map. This is an important commercial district with the convenient traffic. There are a lot of shopping malls, restaurants and tourist attractions.

I almost forgot what the main purpose of this trip until I saw the marvelous sakura in Ueno park. This is a cherry blossom forecast. If you really want to see sakura during your trip,  you can arrange your travel plan according to this cherry blossom forecast.

There is a tradition in Japanese cherry blossom season. The whole family will have a picnic under the cherry blossom tree. If you also want to experience it, you need to prepare your picnic and go there in the early morning. When we went to Ueno park around noon, there are thousand of people sitting there and it is very crowded. There are some pictures I took in the Ueno park. It’s really worth going there at least once in one’s life.

There are some other tourist attractions you can enjoy

Sensoji Temple: It is Tokyo’s oldest temple, and one of its most significant. Within the temple itself, and also at many places on its approach, there are o-mikuji stalls. For a suggested donation of 100 yen, visitors may consult the oracle and divine answers to their questions. People shake labelled sticks from enclosed metal containers and read the corresponding answers they retrieve from one of 100 possible drawers. If the oracle is bad, you can leave it on the temple to avoid the bad luck.

Ghibi Museum: is a museum showcasing the work of the Japanese animation studio Ghibi. If you are a fan of Ghibi, you won’t miss it.

Japan is the shopping paradise. There are shinjuku-ku, Ginza, shibuya and kabukicho shopping districts, catering for different people’s interests.

At last, I want to recommend a restaurant you should try in Japan, Kani Doraku. They cooked crab in different ways. You also need to reserve several months before going there.
